Thanks, Linda, but it wasn’t me! Tim took this on our trip to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge back in 2012. It was a magical evening cruise through the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia.
Well kudos to Tim then … he did a great job and that sounds like a fun little cruise. I remember visiting Okefenokee Swamp with my parents on a trip to Florida many years ago, but we were not as brave as you and went during the day, just on the shoreline looking to see alligators.
It was one of those peak experiences in my life. Just a few of us on a covered skiff, quietly exploring the mystical swamp. None of the alligators we saw were moving and it was amazing to pass by them so closely. All that Spanish moss hanging down from the trees and those Cypress “knees” protruding up from the water added to the magical mood.
I can imagine the magic of the nighttime would make it special. I follow a former blogger on Facebook. She just left WordPress about three months ago and now posts on Facebook. She and her husband were on the road in their RV from mid-September 2025, arriving home in June – they traveled all around the U.S. and she had some beautiful shots of those Cypress trees and Spanish moss too. Lots of alligators in her shots as well. My favorite shots were taken at Yellowstone of the bison and Old Faithful.
That sounds like an amazing trip, Linda! If you enjoy pictures of bison you might enjoy a blog I follow written by a couple who recently moved near to Yellowstone. Mike & Melissa’s photography is amazing: Roads End Naturalist https://roadsendnaturalist.com/
Thank you for the link Barbara. I went over and looked at the site and recent photos by Mike and Melissa and subscribed. Thanks for the tip. Sandra has been posting about Yellowstone for weeks and is almost at the tail end now, some of Old Faithful, but mostly animals. I lost track of the birds on her “Birding Life List” but they stopped at many bird sanctuaries and she had photos of birds I’d never heard of, let alone seen. Sandra’s Facebook site is below and interestingly, I saw the link and her first name is misspelled, but it is indeed the FB site. She is from Michigan. https://www.facebook.com/SanraJsPhotography
I sent Sandra a friend request because I didn’t see a button to follow her. Hopefully she’ll see that you are on of my friends and will accept me! She has some great pictures.
I just popped over there and yes, you are shown as a “mutual friend”. I wish I’d mentioned Sandra to you before Barbara, as I have really enjoyed all the pics on her trip, especially the Yellowstone series – I am sure you will too, even by scrolling back.
I checked this morning and was happy to see that Sandra accepted my friend request. 🙂
That’s great Barbara. You will enjoy her posts. If you get a chance, you should scroll back to see some of the birds she discovered and added to her bird lifer collection. She and her husband went to some bird sanctuaries. He uses a drone occasionally to fly over where they are visiting to give a perspective, but it is just Sandra taking photos and doing short videos.
Nicely captured!
Thank you! It’s one that my late husband took years ago.
What a beauty. 👏🏼
Thank you, Eliza! Tim was a good photographer.
What a regal-look Egret you’ve captured here Barbara!

Tim’s photo of the egret is wonderful!
Thank you, Sheryl! I’ve been having fun finding some of the photos he had taken over the years.
What a wonderful way to embrace your beloved, Barbara, in this tranquil photo he created.
It is wonderful to rediscover traces of the memories he left behind for me to cherish.
Ooooo ahhhhhh just ahhhh
