When the apple tree blooms
the moon often shows up as a blossom,
paler than any of them,
shining over the tree.
It is the dead summer,
the blossoms’ white sister who returns
to see us
and bless us with her hands
so the burden won’t be too heavy when hard times come.
For the Earth itself is a blossom, she says,
on the star tree,
pale and with luminous
ocean leaves.

That is a beautifully eerie photo of the moon making the setting seem a bit ephemeral looking. Tonight is the first of two full moons this month and it’s called the Flower Moon. We’ve got another rainy night so gazing at the night sky won’t be too rewarding. I hope you had a better view of it in your neck of the woods Barbara.
Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to look at the flower moon last night – it’s hard to see with all these tall trees surrounding me! I found another beautiful painting by this artist, it’s of a meadow. Now I have to find a good poem to go with it…
A lovely poem about wildflowers, buttercups perhaps?
Found one by Emily (of course) with this line: In the Meadow — when the Wind. Coming in June 😉
I knew you would find one Barbara and even better that the poem is by Emily. I will look forward to that post. 🙂
🙂
A lovely poem and painting, Barbara. Happy Flower Moon!
