  1. Ooh, I do love these! I’ve seen patches of their green leaves sprouting up around here, but it’s too early for flowers. At least, I hope the flowers won’t pop open yet because we’re sure to have more cold weather and I’d hate for them to die.

    1. Amazing the difference a change in latitude makes, our daffodils are starting to go by already. But at least you still have yours to look forward to enjoying. Remarkably, ours made it through that freak ice storm we had in February, so I hope yours make it through and rough weather you might be getting.

  2. Well, I had to Google to see what Jonquils look like, as pretty as this painting of them is. I guess they are more fragrant than a Daffodil. I like how they are placed inside the teacup. I wrote about the bone china teacups my grandmother gave to me to “start” me collecting them and said I would enjoy them more in a garden.

    1. I like the idea of using teacups as little vases. It’s interesting that “jonquille” in French translates to “daffodil” in English, but “jonquil” in English translates back to “jonquille” in French. I guess the French language doesn’t make a distinction? Anyhow, the artist was French so I was playing with the name of the painting.

      1. That is interesting about the French translation for daffodil. I am still doing French lessons, not learning new vocabulary at this time, but today was my 500th day. I now go on the site and read a story and do the answers to the questions in the story … I doubt I will go back, but at least for now I won’t lose my “streak”.
