My 7th-great-grandfather, John Murdock, son of John & Lydia (Young) Murdock, was born 8 June 1691 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and died there 17 September 1756. He married 27 November 1701 in Plymouth, Ruth Bartlett, who was born c. 1690, and died c. 1763, daughter of Benjamin & Ruth (Peabody) Bartlett.

John lies buried in Burial Hill in Plymouth. Where Ruth was laid to rest is unknown.
John & Ruth were the parents of five children:
1. Janet Murdock (my 6th-great-grandmother), born 10 December 1711 in Plymouth, died 16 September 1756 in Plympton, Massachusetts. She married (as his first wife) 13 November 1740 in Plympton, Stephen Tillson, who was born there 6 April 1717, and died c. 1763, son of Edmund & Deborah (Caswell) Tillson.
2. Robert Murdock, born 4 August 1713 in Plymouth, died 14 June 1779 in Norwich, Vermont.
3. Lt. James Murdock, born c. 1722, died 17 December 1808 in Woodstock, Connecticut. He married (as his first wife) 2 April 1741 in Plympton, Hannah Tillson, who was born there 5 June 1720, and died 16 June 1763 in Carver, Massachusetts, daughter of Edmund & Deborah (Caswell) Tillson.
James married (as his second wife and as her second husband) 26 April 1764 in Plympton, Faith (Shaw) Sturtevant, who was born c. 1735, and died c. 1792, daughter of James & Faith (Doty) Shaw, and widow of John Sturtevant.
4. Ruth Murdock, born c. 1726, died c. 1770. She married (as her first husband) 15 September 1748 in Plympton, James Lucas, who was born there 2 January 1724, and died 22 January 1751 in Carver, son of Elisha & Margaret (Shaw) Lucas.
Ruth married (as her second husband) 17 December 1754 in Plymouth, John Wall, who was born c. 1720, and died after 1 November 1793.
5. Bartlett Murdock, born c. 1729, died 6 March 1795 in Carver. He married (as his first wife) 9 March 1748 in Plympton, Sarah Lucas, who was born c. 1727, and died before 14 October 1793, daughter of Elisha & Margaret (Shaw) Lucas.
Bartlett married (as his second wife and as her second husband) 14 October 1793 in Carver, Lucy (Cobb) Tillson, who was born 24 June 1730 in Plymouth, and died 10 February 1820 in Carver, daughter of Nathaniel & Mary (Waterman) Cobb, and widow of Jonathan Tillson.
