Tim’s 7th-great-grandfather, David Huntley, son of Aaron & Mary (Champion) Huntley, was born 17 March 1688 in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and died there 27 July 1738. He married (as his first wife) 11 July 1711 in New London, Connecticut, Mary Munsell, who was born c. 1695, and died 26 December 1737 in Old Lyme, daughter of Thomas & Lydia (Way) Munsell.
David married (as his second wife), shortly before he died, Joanna (—). David resided in a home on about 48 acres of land (on Lyme Street in the village of Old Lyme) that he was given by his father, Aaron, and that had originally belonged to his grandfather, John. In exchange David agreed to care for his parents in their old age.
David & Mary were the parents of eight children:
1. David Huntley, born c. 1717, died 31 August 1745 at the Fortress of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia. He married (as her first husband) 27 October 1742 in Lyme, Mary Tinker, who was born there 1 December 1720, daughter of Samuel & Jemima (Smith) Tinker.
2. Lydia Huntley, born c. 1722, died 27 July 1811 in Franklin, Connecticut. She married 1 November 1747 in Norwich, Connecticut, James Backus, who was born there 14 August 1703, and died there 15 October 1753, son of Joseph & Elizabeth (Huntington) Backus.
3. Elijah Huntley, born c. 1723, died 20 November 1815 in Franklin. He married (as his first wife) 15 April 1752 in Norwich, Anna Munsell, who was born there 12 October 1721, and died 24 April 1782 in Franklin, daughter of Elisha & Anna (Walbridge) Munsell.
Elijah married (as his second wife) c. 1783, Zeruiah Abbe, who was born 10 April 1762 in Windham, Connecticut, and died 19 November 1806 in Franklin, daughter of Isaac & Eunice (Church) Abbe.
4. Elisha Huntley, born c. 1724, died 20 November 1815 in Franklin. He married 10 April 1749 in Norwich, Mary Walbridge, who was born there 17 August 1729, and died there 12 December 1800, daughter of Thomas & Mary (Knight) Walbridge.
5. Jonathan Huntley, born 9 March 1728 in Lyme. He married 22 August 1754 in Lyme, Sarah Stevens Smith, who was born there 19 September 1733, daughter of Matthew & Sarah (Rogers) Smith.
6. Capt. Ezekiel Huntley (Tim’s 6th-great-grandfather), Capt. Ezekiel Huntley, baptized 4 April 1731 in Lyme, died there 25 July 1783. He married (as his first wife) c. 1752, Mary Avery, who was baptized 4 May 1729 in Groton, Connecticut, and died in September 1757 in Lyme, daughter of Nathaniel & Rachel (Yeomans) Avery.
Ezekiel married (as his second wife) 8 November 1759 in Lyme, Naomi Tiffany (Tim’s 6th-great-grandmother), who was born 28 December 1737 in Lyme, and died 25 July 1821, daughter of Consider & Naomi (Comstock) Tiffany.
7. Mary Huntley, baptized 23 September 1733 in Lyme, died c. 1806. She married 10 August 1757 in Lyme, Cyrus Lee, who was born there 26 February 1732, and died there 24 November 1806, son of William & Mary (Griffing) Lee.
8. Simon Huntley, baptized 25 December 1736 in Lyme, died there 1 October 1743.
