Tim’s 8th-great-grandfather, Aaron Huntley, son of John & Jane (—) Huntley, was born 15 April 1654 in Boston, Massachusetts, and died 24 May 1742 in Lyme, Connecticut. He married 22 February 1676 in Lyme, Mary Champion, who was born c. 1651 in Saybrook, Connecticut, and died 10 December 1732 in Lyme, daughter of Henry & Sarah (—) Champion.
Aaron was baptized at the age of three on 27 October 1657 in the First Church of Roxbury. He came to Lyme, formerly a part of Saybrook Colony, with his father when he was 11 years old. He served as a soldier in King Philip’s War and had many occupations, including constable, fence viewer, lister, pound keeper, beef and pork packer, and surveyor.
Mary & Aaron were original settlers of Lyme, which was incorporated in 1667. After his father’s death Aaron built a house on land given to him by his father, and also helped his stepmother to manage his father’s estate.
Aaron & Mary were the parents of eight children:
1. John Huntley, born 24 November 1677 in Lyme, died there before 10 April 1750. He married 2 February 1699 in Lyme, Elizabeth Pearson, who was born 25 April 1677 in Rowley, Massachusetts, and died before 10 April 1750, daughter of Samuel & Dorcas (Johnson) Pearson.
2. Elizabeth Huntley, born 16 March 1679 in Lyme, died c. 1741
3. Aaron Huntley, born 1 December 1680 in Lyme, died there 26 September 1748. He married 27 July 1707 in Lyme, Deborah DeWolf, who was born 25 July 1690 in Lyme, and died c. 1749, daughter of Stephen & Hannah (Jones) DeWolf.
4. Daniel Huntley, born 25 May 1682 in Lyme, died 14 January 1733 in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He married (as her first husband) 27 July 1720 in Lyme, Hannah Brown, who was born 27 April 1689 in Woburn, Massachusetts, and died 25 December 1745 in Lyme, daughter of John & Elizabeth (Polley) Brown.
5. Mary Huntley, born 14 February 1685 in Lyme, died 5 September 1767 in Surry, New Hampshire. She married c. 1707, John Brockway, who was born 10 May 1684 in Old Lyme, and died 24 November 1764 in Surry, son of Wolston & Hannah (Briggs) Brockway.
6. Jane Huntley, born 10 September 1686 in Lyme, died there 5 January 1741. She married c. 1708, Joseph Ransom, who was born 10 January 1684 in Saybrook, and died 3 September 1759 in Lyme, son of Matthew & Hannah (Jones) Ransom.
7. David Huntley (Tim’s 7th-great-grandfather), born 17 March 1688 in Old Lyme, died there 27 July 1738. He married (as his first wife) 11 July 1711 in New London, Connecticut, Mary Munsell, who was born c. 1695, and died 26 December 1737 in Old Lyme, daughter of Thomas & Lydia (Way) Munsell.
David married (as his second wife), Joanna (—).
8. Solomon Huntley, born 31 May 1691 in Lyme, died there 9 August 1712. He married 13 February 1711, Ruth Merrow, who was born 5 April 1693 in Reading, Massachusetts, daughter of Henry & Miriam (Brooks) Merrow.
