fun at the dinosaur place

4.4.23 ~ The Dinosaur Place ~ inside Carnivore Cavern

Last week the little ones popped in with their parents for a quick spring vacation visit to Connecticut. Last year Tim & I came to The Dinosaur Place with Kat, just the three of us, but this year we had a chance to take the whole family! It was Finn’s first visit. Monty’s Playground alone kept him completely entertained.

Finn watches Papa (Dima) climb!
Finn found his own ropes to climb
he might have stayed here all day…
…but look who was waiting for us inside the the A-MAZE-asaurus maze

I took the stairs up to the observation deck to photograph the kids and their Papa finding their way through the maze.

Kat followed by Papa
still wandering
when they entered the mouth of the dinosaur
a slide deposited them here outside the maze

After a snack break the kids climbed a rock to wait and watch for a volcano to erupt in the pond.

Then we continued along the trail around the pond and through the woods, spotting dinosaurs and other things here and there as we went along.

Kat & I were enchanted with the turtles we spotted,
sunning themselves on this beautiful early spring day
utahraptor
we didn’t quite know what to make of this giant frog
was it supposed to be some kind of giant pre-historic frog?
it seemed so out of place in the midst of life-sized dinosaurs

With his new pacemaker Tim lasted a lot longer this time. He was walking for much of the three hours we were there. Larisa said the kids must have had a great time because they asked her if they could come back tomorrow. πŸ™‚

    1. It’s a great place to take the kiddos and I’m so glad we got a chance to take Finn there before we move. They even have a dinosaur-themed splash pad open in the summer months. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you, Eliza! They just keep growing and growing. That’s one reason we’re moving, so we can see them more often before they’re off to college and their own lives. πŸ™‚

  1. How nice Finn was old enough to be here this time. What a fun family outing! These are some great pictures of everyone enjoying themselves at this venue – just think, there will be more of this down the pipeline after your big move Barbara.

    1. Thank you, Linda. I was glad Finn got a chance to see those dinosaurs before we move! It will be wonderful when we finally get settled and have so many more opportunities to spend time with our precious grandchildren.

      1. Yes, it looked like a lot of fun – this time next year, you will be enjoying Spring as it unfolds, not just the two of you, but with wondering eyes learning about nature and having fun.

        1. Every day now Tim compares the weather conditions between here and NC to see what it will be like next year. πŸ˜‰ Yesterday he said it was 75Β°F down there — perfect for me. πŸ™‚

          1. That’s my kind of weather too Barbara – we zoomed right into Summer for a solid week and today we had “real feel temps” around 20 degrees and snow showers. I would be excited about 75 degrees in April too!

  2. I’m glad to hear that you are seeing a positive difference with Tim’s new pacemaker! That is certainly great news, Barbara.

I remember previous visits to this park. I love the photo of Finn assisting Papa by his cane. So cute!

    1. That new pacemaker has been a blessing now that he has to haul so many boxes of stuff to sell and donate! We’re both getting quite a workout with all this sorting, selling, donating and packing. πŸ™‚ I love that photo of Finn and Grandpa, too. He’s such a helpful little charmer. πŸ™‚
