be of good cheer

If I’ve got to see you when it’s raining deep inside the forest
I got to see you at the waning of the moon

Said oh, won’t you come on back?
Want you to be of good cheer
Come back home on the Celtic New Year

~ Van Morrison

A Cheerful Celtic New Year!

  1. Well, I obviously live under a rock because I’d never heard of the Celtic New Year. I just Googled, and found this, which seemed so appropriate after Superstorm Sandy: ‘the first month of the Celtic year is Samonios, ‘Seed Fall’: in other words, from … darkness springs life and light.’ Wishing you a most cheerful Celtic New Year, Barbara!

    1. Thank you, AA, and I wish for you and your loved ones much cheer, life and light in the Celtic New Year! I love taking note of the seasonal markers on the ancient Celtic calendar – it makes me feel more connected to Mother Earth. And I’m a big fan of Van Morrison, too, so there I go again… Next up, winter solstice!
