Kyle, John & Agnes

Tim’s 6th-great-grandfather, Dea. John Kyle, son of John & Mary (—) Kyle, was born c. 1722 in Windham, New Hampshire, and died 25 October 1769. He married c. 1752, Agnes (—).

Agnes & John were the parents of four children:

1. Ephraim Koyl (Tim’s 5th-great-grandfather), born 1 July 1753 in Windham, New Hampshire, died 25 August 1838 in Elizabethtown-Kitley, Ontario. He married (as his first wife and as her second husband) c. 1778, Abigail Redding (Tim’s 5th-great-grandmother), who was born 17 February 1753 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and died 11 April 1810 in Elizabethtown-Kitley, daughter of John & Mary (Randall) Redding and widow of John M. Kincaid, who was killed in the Battle of Bennington Hills.
Ephraim married (as his second wife) c. 1811, an unidentified woman who died 6 September 1844 in Elizabethtown-Kitley.

2. William Koyl, born 8 August 1755 in Windham. He married (as his first wife) 21 December 1775 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Zilpha Merrill, who was born 17 April 1757 in Salem, New Hampshire, and died 19 October 1794 in Manchester, Vermont, daughter of Peter & Mehitable (Kelley) Merrill.
William married (as his second wife) c. 1795, Elizabeth (—).

3. Mary Koyl, born 20 April 1757 in Windham, died 27 August 1798 in Manchester.

4. Janet Koyl, born 18 May 1759 in Windham, died c. 1824.

KYLE FAMILY

John Kyle, of Scotch race, was a settler here previous to 1740, and lived near J.-L. Cottle’s. He m. Mary —, who d. Jan. 8, 1778, æ. 84 yrs.; he d. May 12, 1762, æ. 80 yrs. Child: —

Dea. John, who succeeded him on the farm; m. Agnes —; made an elder during the pastorate of Rev. William Johnston; date of death not known; was taxed as late as 1780.
