Hopkins, Joshua & Mary Cole

My 8th-great-grandfather, Joshua Hopkins, son of Giles & Catherine (Wheldon) Hopkins, was born in June 1657 in Eastham, Massachusetts, and died before 31 August 1738. He married 26 May 1681 in Eastham, Mary Cole, who was born there 10 March 1659, and died 1 March 1734 in Orleans, Massachusetts, daughter of Daniel & Ruth (Collier) Cole.

Joshua was a shoemaker and Mary was a homemaker. They resided on their farm in Eastham.

Joshua & Mary were the parents of eight children:

1. John Hopkins, born 16 April 1684 in Eastham, died there 24 July 1700.

2. Abigail Hopkins, born 9 March 1686 in Eastham, died after 3 February 1747. She married 3 September 1713 in Eastham, John Taylor, who was born 6 September 1680 in Barnstable, Massachusetts, and died before 5 August 1760, son of Edward & Mary (Merrill) Taylor.

3. Elisha Hopkins, born 17 December 1688 in Eastham, died 1 February 1742 in Chatham, Massachusetts. He married (as her first husband) 9 October 1712 in Barnstable, Experience Scudder, who was born there 28 April 1692 and died c. 1756, daughter of John & Elizabeth (Hamblin) Scudder.

4. Lydia Hopkins, born 1 April 1692 in Eastham. She married 17 April 1741 in Eastham, Isaac Baker, who was born there in September 1709, son of Isaac & Sarah (Rich) Baker.

5. Mary Hopkins, born 20 January 1695 in Eastham, died before 22 July 1738. She married (as his first wife) 24 June 1715 in Eastham, Joseph Smith, who was born there 9 October 1692, and died before 10 June 1779, son of Samuel & Bathsheba (Lothrop) Smith.

6. Joshua Hopkins (my 7th-great-grandfather), born 20 February 1698 in Eastham, died there 30 January 1780. He married 1 October 1724 in Eastham, Priscilla Curtis, who was born 27 January 1696 in Topsfield, Massachusetts, and died in April 1772 in Eastham, daughter of John & Priscilla (Gould) Curtis.

7. Hannah Hopkins (my 7th-great-grandmother), born 25 March 1700 in Eastham, died 24 October 1793 in Harwich, Massachusetts. She married (as her first husband) 13 December 1721 in Eastham, Capt. Ebenezer Paine (my 7th-great-grandfather), who was born there 17 June 1692 and died at sea in 1733 when his whaling ship collided with another ship in the dark and sank near Nantucket shoals with all hands on board. He was the son of Samuel & Patience (Freeman) Paine.
Hannah married (as her second husband and as his second wife) after 22 May 1742 in Harwich, Lt. Zachariah Small, who was born c. 1698 in Dover, New Hampshire, and died 24 April 1778 in Harwich, son of Edward & Mary (Woodman) Small.

8. Phebe Hopkins, born 11 March 1701 in Eastham, died 16 January 1777 in Norwalk, Connecticut. She married 18 March 1724 in Eastham, Moses Bixby, who was born 20 July 1704 in Boxford, Massachusetts, and died before 16 June 1777 in Norwalk, son of Joseph & Sarah (Gould) Bixby.
