That turtle seemed eager to pose for you Barbara. You got a nice reflection from the Mallard as well. It is good to be able to get out again – hopefully any Winter is over for both of us. We get to 72 degrees on Saturday, but it comes with severe weather (of course, a dramatic temperature spike).
We got up to 76°F yesterday and it will be in the 70s for the next few days. Our severe weather is due Sunday. The day these pictures were taken at Sandy Creek Park (Monday) was actually cloudy and cool and not great for pictures. I was kind of sorry we drove all the way out there.
We got to 60 today and I actually got a slight sunburn on my forehead which surprised me. I had looked at the weather before leaving the house and it was just a “1” for UV, but it was 31 degrees when I left the house, so wearing a sunhat wasn’t as practical as wearing a wool hat, but I was near the water, so I need to be more careful. Today was my first long walk of 2025 and over five miles in the fresh air, so I’m going to shut off my computer shortly as I’m worn out. 🙂 I kept putting off this walk all week as it was either gray or too windy. At least when it’s gray there are no shadows (if there can be a silver lining). Good luck with your severe weather. Ours looks like it happens in the morning and the evening Saturday – great, a two-part punch. It’s too early for those weather worries.
Hopefully you got a little Vitamin D with that slight sunburn! Hope your weather wasn’t too bad yesterday. It was cloudy and gray here but today we have a wind advisory and expect a thunderstorm or two. It doesn’t sound as severe as they were originally predicting but we’ll see.
Yes, it was a long walk along the shoreline, so lots of Vitamin D. I wore my sunhat the second day – like closing the barn door after the horse gets out. 🙂 I hope you don’t have bad weather today; I’m glad to hear it is not as severe as originally predicted for you.
In my area, we had wind gusts around 45 mph and heavy rain, but I had no damage. I checked shingles and for any tree limbs in the yard and was happy to find nothing amiss. What I do worry about is a small awning over the side door as it pulled away from the bricks a few years ago. My former handyman, (who is now retired due to being legally blind), suggested that he re-anchor the screws into the bricks and put a strong epoxy over the anchor. I heard rattling last night and was worried to go out this morning, but thankfully no issues. Parts of another county had 70 mph winds, a lot of folks with no power and some damage. Nothing like I’ve seen from the hard-hit states which is just heartbreaking.
Handsome Mallard and turtles make me giggle with their ‘long neck’ stances as if they dare ya!
Enjoying the spring air and sunshine!
It feels so good to people, birds and reptiles alike!
Aw, these are so pretty! It looks like Mother Nature is finally waking up … and so are the creatures!
Rise and shine, creatures! Old Man Winter has left the pond and the Green Man is stepping in to take his place!
enjoying that turtle -so alive and perky
He’s stretching his neck and checking out the scenery. 🙂

I do wonder if they were scanning the horizon, looking for companionship but only finding me with a camera!
Barbara, Both have a smile! Did you notice? And now I have a smile. 🙂
I didn’t notice the smiles, Teri, but I’m so glad you did and that they made you smile, too! 🙂
Look at your new friends! Spring is in the air.
New friends and a fresh start in the season of renewal!
