4.16.16 ~ Avery Point ~ “Pig Iron” by Timothy Kussow

It’s been a while since we went down to Avery Point so we decided to take a sunset stroll last night. Believe it or not, our bathroom renovation still is not finished. It started on February 29 and was supposed to be done on April 1. A series of tile and fixture delivery delays stalled the job at various points. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the new bathroom door will be put in place this afternoon as promised…

After taking showers at my sister’s apartment for five weeks at least we could finally use the shower here, but we still had no toilet and had to continue using the one in the basement. We’ve only had the new toilet for two days now… One thing I’m thrilled about is my new linen closet in the bathroom!!! No more running out in the hall dripping wet when we forget to get a towel!

We discovered something new installed along the Avery Point sculpture walkway, a meteorological mast.

I loved the mauve tint to the sky opposite of the sunset.

We’ve never had a renovation done before – this has been a surreal experience. At last, though, I think I may have a touch of spring fever!

  1. Why is it construction projects never finish when they should. Sounds pretty darn frustrating.

I think going out for a walk was a good idea.

    1. It was very frustrating, Sybil! Yesterday it was finally finished – we now have a beautiful new door! I guess anything worth having is worth waiting for. 🙂

  2. Not sure if this will make you feel better, but the daughter of one of my friends began her bathroom renovation with her husband the end of January. It is almost….almost… done. Ack. But you will love it when it is complete. Good luck. Love the photos.

    1. It makes me feel a little better, Pam. I was bracing myself for all kinds of surprises when the work started but the last thing I expected was all the supply delivery delays! The door was put in yesterday and now that it is all finished, three weeks behind schedule, I do LOVE our new bathroom.

  3. Darn those construction projects that refuse to finish on time! At least we can venture out in nature and relieve our angst. 🙂

    1. Now that it’s over I can finally say it was worth all the fuss and bother!!! I never would have thought it possible to fall in love with a bathroom. 🙂

  4. Gorgeous shots! I am happy you are almost done with the renovation. We have did three bathrooms in our previous house and I do not look forward to doing it again 🙂

    1. Thank you, Tiny! I cannot believe you’ve gone through three bathroom renovations! Maybe you had more than one shower, though – that was the hardest part, not having a shower in the house for five weeks. Hope we never have to do this again! 🙂

  5. Adore the Pig Iron. At least Avery Point is stunning to look at. Bathrooms are such a challenge. Not something you can do without. You can have a make shift kitchen but a bathroom is another problem all together. Good Luck.

    1. Avery Point is so beautiful and we feel so lucky to live near such lovely scenery.

I think that’s why we did the bathroom first – it was the most dated part of our condo and we figured it would be the hardest renovation to live through. But I’m so happy we did it!
