Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping Tom for the mother station

We speak of the beauty of the moon when we are speaking not only of its pure round whiteness in the night sky, but also of the mysterious influence it exerts. We also imply its strange magnetism, its mesmeric hold on our imagination, and the inexplicable way it affects our bodies, our sleep, our moods, and all nature. When we gaze up at night the moon unifies our world-view. It is a mirror, reflecting the light of the sun, but in its own unique consistency. The moon is more than what we see. Its appeal is cosmic and beyond the mind’s full conscious comprehension. It is as deep in us as it is far above us. To see it is to resonate with a thousand invisible forces and feelings.

  1. What amazing pictures! Did you take them, Barbara? The moon is more than we see…it calls us into the Mystery if we let it…

    1. There is perhaps a 75% chance that I took them, Kathy. 🙂 Tim & I were handing the camera back and forth that night and I had it in my possession slightly more often than he did.

    1. Thank you, Laurie! At least I can take full credit for motivating us to go down to the beach with the camera for the special occasion. 🙂

  2. I’ll “third” that question … the images are lovely. Full moon here tonight. Love it.

We have lots of lighthouses here in Nova Scotia, but none that look like that one. Lovely.

    1. Thank you, Sybil. Avery Point Lighthouse is a smaller lighthouse, built in 1944 and only 41 feet high. Hope I get to see some of your lighthouses in Nova Scotia some future day…

  3. I was taken by the light house as much as the moon! They both look so beautiful and magical. It is said that those affected by the phases of the moon the most are those born under the star sign of Cancer the Crab.

    1. It’s as if lighthouses and the moon were made for each other! 🙂 That’s interesting about those born under Cancer… I pay close attention to the phases of the moon – it’s intrigued me since I was a little girl and the moon seemed to be chasing our car!
