Ebb & Flo, a brother/sister faerie team live in this riverside home made of driftwood. These faeries control the tide waters of the Lieutenant River. Every six hours, Ebb is busy pulling the salty waters into the marsh and then it’s Flo’s turn to push them back out into the Sound again. This keeps the water always in motion and the marsh a dynamic and beautiful ecosystem for birds, fish, insects, and more. The many shades of green keep the painters busy mixing their vibrant and sunny hues.

Today I baked spaghetti squash for the first time, and served it with a grass-fed ground beef marinara sauce. Mr. Logic thought it tasted good, and so did I! And so the paleo culinary adventure continues…
Zoë and Scarby, sweet little carnivores, are on a grain-free diet, too, and seem pleased with it for the most part, as pleased as cats will allow themselves to admit.
Scarby is still giving Zoë a wide berth, and hissing occasionally to remind Zoë about how things stand between them. She spends her evenings close to Tim on the couch, purring loudly. We’re being patient and encouraging with her.
Zoë provides us with morning entertainment – playing with and pouncing on pony-tail elastics, preferring them to all other toys. And she talks to us all the time. 🙂 My little shadow.
Oh Barbara…I’m doing the same, going paleo on the recommendation of my son. Vegetarian worked fine when I was younger, but protein’s better now; changing with the seasons of my life. A splendid riverside home!
It’s nice to know you are discovering the benefits of paleo eating, too, Monica – both Tim & I are feeling much better these days… Yesterday we had marinated baked salmon and kale and we both loved it!
Ebb and Flo — a brother and sister faerie team. I love it!
The artists were just as creative picking names for their fairies as they were constructing dwellings for them!
Love the drift wood sculptures !
Happy you enjoyed these creations, Sybil – I bet you find some pretty interesting pieces of driftwood washed up on your beaches!
If only you could talk cat and find out what happened to the cats. Perhaps with time they’ll become friends again.
Interesting that you’re feeding the cats a grain free diet. What do they eat.
Sigh… I do wish I could speak cat and mend the rift – I can’t help feeling Zoë was expecting a change and was pleased with the results of her worming her way into my heart. And that Olga was totally unprepared for a long car ride, a new home and new people, too, and blames Zoë for the disruption. I’m probably interpreting their behavior too anthropomorphically, but it makes as much sense as any other theory.
We’re feeding them Taste of the Wild cat food – it’s grain-free and a more natural diet. If we’re going paleo they may as well, too! They love it! http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/
Hi. My Zoe loves to chase string, and she loves the slim band that comes off when we open a new jug of water. And empty boxes. Oh, to have such simple tastes! Jane
I’ll have to try the string on my Zoë! A paper bag didn’t get the response I thought it might, so maybe I’ll try a box next. Olga still isn’t playing, but she rubs us so hard and purrs so loudly we started calling her our little bulldozer. 🙂
Hmmm, read this a long time ago but never commented. Enjoyed looking at the pics here, Barbara.
Happy you enjoyed looking at the pictures, Kathy. The theme next year, I think, will be “The Wizard of Oz.” I’m already anticipating the fun of snapping hundreds of pictures! 🙂
Love this, and also hearing the updates on how Zoe and Olga are settling. My new cat, Oscar, is my shadow. I am glad my mom has her walker, as she would be constantly falling over him … as I am!
So you have a shadow, too, Diane! Oscar sounds so lovable. My Zoë is just beginning to learn how to navigate around me so as not to be tripping me!
My sister’s elderly cat, Bernie, is blind, and has endless difficulties negotiating around my aunt’s walker and my dad’s wheelchair. They never seem to be located in quite the same place. 🙂
