Turner, Ezekiel & Susanna Keeney

Tim’s 8th-great-grandfather, Ezekiel Turner, son of John & Mary (Brewster) Turner, was born 7 January 1650 in Scituate, Massachusetts and died 16 January 1703 in New London, Connecticut. He married (as her first husband) 26 December 1679 in New London, Susanna Keeney, who was born there 6 September 1662, and died there 13 December 1748, daughter of John & Sarah (Douglas) Keeney.

Susanna married (as her second husband and as his second wife) 22 August 1706 in New London, Joseph Minor (Tim’s 9th-great-grandfather), who was born there 6 August 1666 and died there 26 April 1752, son of Clement & Frances (Burcham) Minor, and widower of Elizabeth (Comstock) Minor (Tim’s 9th-great-grandmother).

In 1679, Ezekiel was a sailor with Master Thomas Simond when the bark Providence was wrecked on a rock near Fisher’s Island, according to his deposition dated November 29th. Ezekiel Turner died intestate. The inventory of his estate was taken 11 May 1704 and amounted to 217 pounds, 10 shillings, 6 pence. Administration of the estate was granted to widow Susanna and on 9 November 1705 she posted bond with Richard Christophers as Surety. On 1 October 1706, Susanna Minor, “Relict of Ezekiel Turner,” presented her accounting of the estate.

Ezekiel & Susanna were the parents of twelve children:

1. Sarah Turner, baptized 3 December 1682, died before before 28 October 1683.

2. Sarah Turner, born 28 October 1683 in New London, died there 15 August 1719. She married (as his first wife) 11 December 1700 in New London, Lt. Jonathan Calkins, who was born there 9 Jul 1678, and died there 15 July 1750, son of David & Mary (Bliss) Calkins. Sarah & Jonathan were the parents of six children.

3. Susanna Turner, born 2 January 1685 in New London, died 22 February 1753 in Charlestown-Boston, Massachusetts. She married (as her first husband) 26 November 1702 in New London, Adam Pickett, who was born there 7 September 1681 and died after 19 January 1704, son of Adam & Hannah (Wetherell) Pickett. Susanna & Adam had no children.
Susanna married (as her second husband) 13 July 1706 in New London, Samuel Fosdick, who was born there 18 September 1684, and was lost at sea before before 4 November 1784, son of Samuel & Mercy (Pickett) Fosdick. Susanna & Samuel were the parents of eight children.

4. Mary Turner, born 30 May 1686 in New London, died after 28 November 1764. She married (as her first husband) c. 1708, John Daniels, who was born 22 October 1686 in New London, and died there 10 July 1731, son of John & Agnes (Beebe) Daniels. Mary & John were the parents of eight children.
Mary married (as her second husband and as his second wife) 3 June 1734 in New London, Henry Rowland, who was born c. 1680, and died before 14 April 1747, widower of Temperance (—) Rowland.
Mary married (as her third husband and as his second wife) before March 1751, John Banning, who was born c. 1675, and died 11 September 1759 in Lyme, Connecticut, son of John & Abigail (Spencer) Banning, and widower of Sarah (Tiffany) Banning.

5. Ruth Turner, born 2 March 1687 in New London, died 13 October 1771. She married 31 October 1711 in Scituate, her first cousin, Isaac Turner, who was born there 27 February 1682, and died 25 April 1725 in Hanover, Massachusetts, son of Jonathan & Martha (Bisbee) Turner. Ruth & Isaac were the parents of six children.

6. Lydia Turner, born 5 September 1690 in New London, died c. 1742. She married George Buttolph, who was born 13 May 1690 and died c. 1736, son of George & Elizabeth (Buck) Buttolph. Lydia & George were the parents of six children.

7. Grace Turner (Tim’s 7th-great-grandmother), born 29 August 1692 in New London, died 6 June 1784 in Lyme. She married 26 February 1713 in New London, Joseph Minor, who was born there 3 March 1690, and died 30 May 1781 in Lyme, son of Joseph & Elizabeth (Comstock) Minor. Grace & Joseph were the parents of eight children.

8. Hannah Turner, born 8 September 1694 in New London. She married 18 March 1712 in New London, Thomas Pember, who was born before 15 May 1692, and died in June 1767 in New London, son of Thomas & Agnes (Way) Pember. Hannah & Thomas were the parents of three children.

9. Elizabeth Turner, born 5 December 1696 in New London, died c. 1736. She married (as her first husband) 8 May 1717 in New London, Thomas Dart, who was born there 8 July 1687, and died there 20 May 1720, son of Daniel & Elizabeth (Douglas) Dart. Elizabeth & Thomas were the parents of two children.
Elizabeth married (as her second husband and as his second wife) 31 May 1726 in New London, John Hazen, born 23 March 1687 in Boxford, Massachusetts, and died 24 February 1772 in Norwich, Connecticut, son of Thomas & Mary (Howlett) Hazen, and widower of Mercy (Bradstreet) Hazen. Elizabeth & John were the parents of four children.

10. Ezekiel Turner, born 14 March 1699 in New London, died 13 March 1770 in Groton, Connecticut. He married (as his first wife) 29 April 1723 in Groton, Theoda Williams, who was baptized 3 January 1701 in Stonington, Connecticut, and died c. 1728, daughter of Ebenezer & Mary (Wheeler) Williams.
Ezekiel married (as his second wife) 11 May 1729 in Groton, Borodell Denison, who was born 14 February 1712 in Stonington, and died December 1797 in Groton, daughter of Joseph & Prudence (Minor) Denison. Ezekiel & Borodell were the parents of five children.

11. Lucretia Turner, born 20 January 1701 in New London, died there 9 April 1789. She married 28 March 1721 in New London, Joseph Calkins, who was born there 3 November 1693 and died there 8 May 1764, son of David & Mary (Bliss) Calkins. Lucretia & Joseph were the parents of nine children.

12. Abigail Turner, born 14 March 1703 in New London, died 23 September 1756 in Norwich. She married (as his first wife) 9 January 1722 in New London, Clement Minor, who was born there 14 December 1700, and died 9 August 1775 in Norwich, son of Clement & Martha (Mould) Minor. Abigail & Clement were the parents of nine children.
