My 6th-great-grandfather, Stephen Tillson, son of Edmund & Deborah (Caswell) Tillson, was born 6 April 1717 in Plympton, Massachusetts, and died c. 1763. He married (as his first wife) 13 November 1740 in Plympton, Janet Murdock, who was born 10 December 1711 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and died 16 September 1756 in Plympton, daughter of John & Ruth (Bartlett) Murdock.
Stephen married (as his second wife) 24 January 1759 in Kingston, Massachusetts, Mercy Holmes, who was born 13 November 1725 in Plymouth, and died c. 1764, daughter of John & Mercy (Ford) Holmes.
Janet & Stephen were the parents of five children:
1. William Tillson, born 15 March 1741 in Plympton, died 9 April 1833 in Chilhowie, Virginia. He married 1 April 1762 in Plympton, Mary Ransom, born there 4 July 1740, and died c. 1824 in Erwin, Tennessee, daughter of Joseph & Mercy (Pynchon) Ransom.
2. John Tillson, born 31 December 1742 in Plympton, died 25 November 1820 in Carver, Massachusetts. He married 19 December 1771 in Plympton, Ruth Barrows, who was born c. 1736, and died 16 October 1820 in Carver, daughter of Peleg & Hopestill (Darling) Barrows.
3. Stephen Tillson, born 30 August 1747 in Plympton, died 6 May 1814 in Greenwich, Massachusetts, which is now flooded under the Quabbin Reservoir. He married 18 May 1769 in Middleborough, Massachusetts, Hopestill Shaw, who was born there 25 May 1744, and died 3 May 1814 in Greenwich, daughter of Moses & Mary (Darling) Shaw.
4. Ichabod Tillson (my 5th-great-grandfather), born 25 April 1750 in Plympton, died c. 1822. He married 24 December 1778 in Middleborough, Azuba Thomas, who was born there 28 December 1754, and died 12 April 1822 in Carver, daughter of John & Mercy (Shaw) Thomas.
5. Janet Tillson, born 10 February 1753 in Plympton. She married 5 March 1810 in Carver, Zadock Wright, who was born 17 August 1754 in Plympton, son of Jacob & Deborah (Torrey) Wright.
