My 8th-great-grandfather, Benjamin Bartlett, son of Benjamin & Sarah (Brewster) Bartlett, was born c. 1658, and died before 25 April 1724 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He married 1 December 1676 in Duxbury, Massachusetts, Ruth Peabody, who was born there 27 June 1658, and died there 27 March 1725, daughter of William & Elizabeth (Alden) Peabody.
Benjamin was a cooper and Ruth was a homemaker. They lie buried in the Myles Standish Burial Ground in Duxbury.
Benjamin & Ruth were the parents of nine children:
1. Robert Bartlett, born 6 December 1679 in Duxbury.
2. Sarah Bartlett, born c. 1681, died 3 April 1761 in Kingston, Massachusetts. She married 27 November 1701 in Plymouth, Israel Bradford, who was born c. 1677, and died 26 March 1760 in Kingston, son of William & Mary (Atwood) Bradford.
3. Rebecca Bartlett, born c. 1684, died c. 1756. She married 27 November 1701 in Plymouth, John Bradford, who was born 29 December 1675 in Plymouth, and died 27 March 1724 in Kingston, son of John & Mercy (Warren) Bradford.
4. Ruth Bartlett (my 7th-great-grandmother), born c. 1690, c. 1763. She married 27 November 1701 in Plymouth, John Murdock, who was born 8 June 1691 in Plymouth, and died there 17 September 1756, son of John & Lydia (Young) Murdock.
5. Mercy Bartlett, born c. 1694, died 6 October 1757 in Scituate, Massachusetts. She married (as his first wife) 5 August 1714 in Scituate, John Turner, who was born there 1 January 1693 and died there 20 March 1778, son of Benjamin & Elizabeth (Hawkins) Turner.
6. William Bartlett, born c. 1696, died before 12 January 1717. He married (as her first husband) 5 July 1716 in Plymouth, Sarah Foster, who was born 16 April 1696 in Plymouth, and died 7 February 1778 in Marshfield, Massachusetts, daughter of John & Hannah (Stetson) Foster.
7. Priscilla Bartlett, born January 1697 in Duxbury, died there 7 July 1758. She married 31 December 1718 in Duxbury, John Sampson, who was born there 17 August 1688, and died there 26 January 1770, son of Stephen & Elizabeth (—) Sampson.
8. Deborah Bartlett, born c. 1701, died after 5 March 1764. She married (as his second wife) 19 December 1723 in Duxbury, Josiah Thomas, who was born before 16 March 1698, and died before 20 March 1751, son of Samuel & Mercy (Ford) Thomas, and widower of Mary (Stedman) Thomas.
9. Abigail Bartlett, born c. 1703, died 30 August 1776 in Duxbury. She married 30 August 1728 in Duxbury, Col. Gamaliel Bradford, who was born 18 May 1704 in Plymouth, and died 24 April 1778 in Duxbury, son of Samuel & Hannah (Rogers) Bradford.
