Atwood, John & Sarah Masterton

My 7th-great-grandfather, John Atwood, was born c. 1615, and died before 7 March 1676 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He married c. 1642, Sarah Masterton, who was born c. 1625 in Leiden, Netherlands, and died before 18 April 1701 in Plymouth, daughter of Richard & Mary (Goodall) Masterton.

Sarah arrived in America as a small child with her parents in 1629, sailing on (the second) Mayflower. It is not known when John arrived. Sarah & John were among the original settlers of Plymouth.

John & Sarah were the parents of nine children:

1. Mary Atwood, born c. 1643 in Plymouth, died there 6 January 1714. She married (as her first husband) 11 December 1661 in Plymouth, Rev. John Holmes, who was baptized 1 July 1638, and died 24 December 1675 in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Mary married (as her second husband and as his third wife) 7 March 1676, Maj. William Bradford, who was born 17 June 1624 in Plymouth, and died there 20 February 1704, son of William & Alice (Carpenter) Bradford, and widower of Alice (Richards) Bradford and widower of Sarah (—) Bradford.

2. Sarah Atwood, born c. 1646 in Plymouth. She married 13 February 1668 in Plymouth, John Fallowell, who was born c. 1646, and died c. 1676, son of William & Martha (Beal) Fallowell.

3. John Atwood, born 4 March 1649 in Plymouth, died there before 1 March 1675.

4. Dea. Nathaniel Atwood (my 6th-great-grandfather), born 25 February 1652 in Plymouth, died there 17 December 1724. He married c. 1683, Mary (—), who was born c. 1660, and died 5 December 1736 in Plympton, Massachusetts.

5. Isaac Atwood, born 27 February 1653 in Plymouth, died March 1676.

6. Mercy Atwood, born c. 1656 in Plymouth, died there 4 March 1678.

7. Abigail Atwood, born c. 1656 in Plymouth, died c. 1697 in Worcester, Massachusetts. She married (as his first wife) c. 1675, Samuel Leonard, who was born c. 1643, and died after 30 November 1720 in Preston, Connecticut, son of Solomon & Sarah (Chandler) Leonard.

8. Elizabeth Atwood, born 24 April 1658 in Plymouth, died 17 April 1704 in Sandwich, Massachusetts. She married c. 1685, Caleb Nye, who was born c. 1654, and died 1 May 1704 in Sandwich, son of Benjamin & Katherine (Tupper) Nye.

9. Hannah Atwood, born c. 1660 in Plymouth, died there 16 December 1718. She married 1 February 1693 in Plymouth, Richard Cooper, who was born c. 1639, and died 29 March 1724 in Plymouth.
