Atwood, Barnabas & Lydia Shurtleff

My 7th-great-grandfather, Barnabas Atwood, son of Nathaniel & Mary (—) Atwood, was born 1 January 1698 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and died 2 February 1785 in Carver, Massachusetts. He married 28 February 1723 in Plympton, Massachusetts, Lydia Shurtleff, who was born 28 February 1701 in Plymouth, and died 20 January 1784 in Plympton, daughter of Abiel & Lydia (Barnes) Shurtleff.

Barnabas & Lydia were the parents of nine children:

1. Hannah Atwood, born 17 October 1724 in Plympton, died 29 November 1800 in Hebron, Maine. She married (as his third wife) 5 June 1757 in Plympton, Benjamin Barrows, who was born c. 1716, and died 29 October 1800 in Hebron, son of George & Patience (Simmons) Barrows, and widower of Elizabeth (Perkins) Barrows and widower of Lois (Tillson) Barrows.

2. Elizabeth Atwood (my 6th-great-grandmother), born 21 November 1726 in Plympton, died 19 August 1786 in Middleborough, Massachusetts. She married (as his first wife) 13 October 1748 in Plympton, Elkanah Shaw, who was born 21 November 1724 in Eastham, Massachusetts, and died 31 December 1805 in Middleborough, son of George & Mercy (Rich) Shaw.

3. Isaac Atwood, born 12 November 1728 in Plympton, died there 17 April 1759.

4. Lucy Atwood, born c. 1734 in Plympton, died c. 1784.

5. Mary Atwood, born c. 1737 in Plympton, died 10 January 1808 in Middleborough. She married 18 September 1760 in Plympton, Thomas Shaw, who was born 15 April 1738 in Norton, Massachusetts, and died 6 July 1778 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, son of Jonathan & Elizabeth (Shurtleff) Shaw.

6. Lydia Atwood, born in April 1737 in Plympton, died 19 November 1815 in Carver. She married 17 March 1757 in Plympton, Samuel Cobb, who was born there 18 January 1736, and died 23 November 1815 in Carver, son of Nathaniel & Mary (Waterman) Cobb.

7. John Atwood, born c. 1742 in Plympton, died 15 January 1825 in Carver. He married 8 December 1763 in Plympton, Kezia Harlow, who was born 20 July 1740 in Middleborough, and died 3 March 1816 in Carver, daughter of Benjamin & Elizabeth (Stephens) Harlow.

8. Barnabas Atwood, born c. 1744 in Plympton, died 1 January 1813 in Carver.

9. Abigail Atwood, born c. 1746 in Plympton, died 15 January 1792 in Carver. She married (as his second wife) 20 December 1770 in Plympton, Seth Barrows, who was born 30 April 1719 in Plympton, and died 14 January 1792 in Carver, son of Moses & Mary (Carver) Barrows, and widower of Mary (Lovell) Barrows.
