My best Acquaintances are those
With Whom I spoke no Word —
The Stars that stated come to Town
Esteemed Me never rude
Although to their Celestial Call
I failed to make reply —
My constant — reverential Face

A beautiful poem to accompany the wonderful painting. This past fall we visited Arles, France – a place van Gogh lived. They mark the spot where they believe he stood to paint the picture.
That must have been a great experience, Frank, getting to stand in the same spot where van Gogh painted a masterpiece. I’ve never been to France. It seems to be a place of inspiration and light for so many artists, past and present.
Vincent and Emily together. How wonderful of you to think of this.
Thank you, Ally. I was excited when I saw how well they complemented each other. 🙂
How I wish starry nights would return to my area! We’ve had more than our share of clouds of late, obscuring even that green comet everybody was talking about. You know, the one that won’t be visible for another 50,000 years!!
I know!! I admit, I didn’t even try to see the green comet because I’ve given up trying to see these celestial events. Every time I drag myself out of bed to see something in the night sky there are too many clouds to see anything. Sigh…
My Granddaughter’s favorite picture By Vincent van Gogh. With a lovely poem by Emily. A perfect post.
Thank you, Peggy. I thought of the painting as soon as I read Emily’s poem. It even shows a town, like Emily mentioned.
Beautiful, Barbara, they compliment each other so nicely!
Thank you, Donna!!
I sure enjoyed the artistic gifts you shared here today, Barbara, thank you.
You’re more than welcome, Jet! Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂
Another perfect pairing Barbara – I always liked this painting and I will think of Don McLean’s song “Starry, Starry Night”.
Thank you, Linda. And that’s a beautiful song to connect with the image, too. Seems like stars inspire all kinds of artists.
one of my favorite works and a new poem discovered. i enjoyed it – thank you
Thank you, and welcome to my blog. I’m glad you enjoyed the word/image combination.
