that’s summer

“Platter with Seashells, Roses, Pearls & Earrings” by Georgios Jakobides

My Garden — like the Beach —
Denotes there be — a Sea —
That’s Summer —
Such as These — the Pearls
She fetches — such as Me

~ Emily Dickinson

  1. Deep relaxed and grateful aaaahhhh for this post – the richness of the colorvalues-the magic of the short poem – the deep breath I take reading it – much love, Barbara

    1. So happy to hear the painting/poem combination had such a lovely evocative effect on you, Leelah. 💙💙💙

  2. A beautiful poem and and beautiful picture to serenade Summer. Sadly, we are shaving three seconds off each day since the Summer Solstice, but let’s not go there yet Barbara. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Linda. You’re right, too soon to start thinking about the fewer and fewer hours of daylight. 🌞 I’m looking forward to lots of bright days and sunflowers next month!🌻

        1. It rained all day yesterday, but we needed it. Today promises to be sunny with low humidity — yay! I hope you enjoy your gorgeous day, too.

          1. We had a gorgeous day today Barbara. I hated to come inside. I saw the first tinges of red on the bushes and scraggly saplings that line the Creek that you identified as Sumac – last year it was July when I saw the first red leaves. We need rain too and I wish it would be on Monday night with all the fireworks going off, not Friday night, but I’m grateful for that rain. Too dry with all the fireworks embers everywhere.

          2. So glad you had a great time outside! I guess we might as well invest in some earplugs to help us through the evenings of fireworks. 😉
