When we were young
and feeling the need to prove ourselves,
we generated heat and energy
like the noonday sun.
But now we take time to reflect the Tao
and bathe our world in soft silent beauty
like the full moon on an Autumn evening.
An abundance of opinions will generate heat
but accomplish nothing.
You no longer have to comment
on each and every little thing.
You can observe events with a detached serenity.
When you speak,
your words are gentle, helpful, few.
Your silence is as beautiful as the Harvest moon.

Thank you, Jeff!
For me, an ode to the wisdom of aging. Hi Barbara .. hope all is well!
Hi Frank! Aging does have its benefits. All is well here. How are you doing?
Most important thing is we are healthy. I may return to blogging mid-late October.
Glad to hear you’re healthy. I am looking forward to your return to blogging, then. Just in time for Walktober. 😉
Beautiful!
Thank you, Donna!
This is good advice.
I thought so, too, Anna!
Feeling the soft silent beauty you’ve shared here. <3
So happy you feel it, too. I keep looking for equanimity these days… 💙
Breathing happily, Barbara
Breathing right there along with you, Leelah. 💙
Wonderful!
Thank you, Tiny! It’s so nice to see you again! I hope all is well.
The photo and the verse are perfect together — thank you, Barbara, for pairing them here!
You’re welcome, Debbie! I love finding pairings that seem to be made for each other. 🙂 Thank you for liking them!
The verse and photo are beautiful Barbara. No chance of glimpsing the harvest moon here as it has rained steadily since 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Thank you, Linda! I didn’t get to see the harvest moon, either, but we can feel its energy and see how it pulls the tides higher and lower down at the beach.
We finally had a sunny day with perfectly blue skies today and I saw the faint moon this morning, very large and awesome looking even in the light of day.
Great! You’ve got to make the most of those perfect days and I’m happy you got a glimpse of the harvest moon in the morning. I love daytime moons!
I could still see how large it was Barbara. It is those simple joys that keep us going sometimes. If there was no beauty in nature to make us stop and pause for moment, a walk would be wasted.
So true! 💙
