    1. Thank you, Susan! I was pretty lucky to catch this moment – I wonder what Katie will think of it when she’s old enough to appreciate the significance of it.

  1. Aunt Lil never really got over the loss of her husband and 2 sons. Perhaps she lived this long to be given a gift of pure love and joy that she can take with her to the new world beyond. What a beautiful picture. Thanks for sending it!

    1. You’re welcome, Ron! I doubt it not, all of what you said about Aunt Lil here.

Another thought occurred to me recently. I knew my maternal great-grandmother well – I was nine years old when she died. And the idea is there that I might know my great-granddaughter in an unbroken maternal line, if Katie has a daughter before I die. It’s an exciting possibility to entertain!

  2. You captured a magical and tender moment in this photo; Aunt Lil, having reached a century in age, and Katie, the relative newborn. I’m sure that Katie will treasure this photo as she grows older xx

    1. Thank you, Joanne, it was an unplanned and unexpected moment and I was surprised and delighted to capture it. I have a picture of my great-grandparents holding me when I was about the same age, which I treasure. They weren’t 100 years old, though!
