  1. Oh, I hope you don’t have the Summertime Blues Barbara! Beautiful painting, and although it’s called “Blue Bird”, it looks to me as if she is about to plunge into the ocean!

    1. The summertime blues come and go with the level oppressive humidty out there, Joanne. But I try to make the best of it! The “blue bird” does look like she’s enjoying an evening sea breeze – I hope it is not the intention of the archer to cut short her dreamy flight!

    1. Hmmm – did Peter Pan use a bow and arrow? I think there may be a lot of symbolism in this painting that I’m not picking up on…

    1. What a coincidence, Val! The night before I posted this I heard the song on a video I was watching of a live performance of The Who at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, and it got stuck in my head. I was only 13 at the time of that festival but watching it made me remember my aunt talking about taking my older cousins to a Who concert and being disgusted that they destroyed their instruments at the end of it. Anyhow, I wasn’t enjoying the video so I didn’t finish watching it. Guess they would not have been my cup of tea even if I had been old enough to go to one of their concerts!

      1. I think you have to have been of that generation and in that location – ie, a Brit – really to appreciate the band. Bruce and I have been fans of the Who since our teens and just have never gone off them.

I didn’t get to the Isle of Wight festival as my mother wouldn’t let me go! I was old enough at the time but as a teenager I don’t think she trusted me!

        1. It must be great to like the same band that your husband does! Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young is the only group Tim & I both love. He’s about four years older than me and it does seem to influence our musical tastes and preferences…

  2. Are you feeling the Summertime Blues, Barbara? It’s been so hot in so many places this summer that I suspect lots of people have experienced heat blues. The blue in that painting is so vibrant and gorgeous. Thanks for finding and sharing it with us.

    1. Well, the summertime blues have been coming and going with the waves of heat and humidity. I try not to whine because there are so many people and animals so much worse off, but the heat kind of saps my strength. It’s funny how the color blue can stir up melancholy, but from another view it evokes serenity. Blue does not want to be put in a box!!!

    1. The movement is uplifting, now that you mention it, Diane! That must be a reason why I was so drawn to this painting!
