To me every hour of the light and dark is a miracle,
Every cubic inch of space is a miracle,
Every square yard of the surface of the earth is spread with the same.

beautiful
Thank you!
Barbara,
Beautiful pairing!
Whitman knew the idea of enchantment! and found it everywhere and shared it with the world.
As you do my friend!
Thanks, Jeff! One of the reasons I love this painting – and there are many reasons – is that I always wanted a big brother, like the one in the painting and like the one my childhood neighbor down the street had. I was so envious. It was scenes like the one in this painting that I imagined sharing with this wished-for and interesting big brother!
Ohhhhhh, I love the artwork that you used in this post.
Thanks, Laurie… it’s amazing how a talented artist can capture a moment forever…
Oh very nice picture. Barbara, Its all miracles everywhere. Life is completely a strange miracle. A good thought you’ve shared. Well, hope you are doing good, enjoying the summer your side? 🙂
Thank you, Sonali! Summer is going well here, we have not had the drought and extreme heat that has been plaguing the middle of the country. And when it does get too hot or humid here we have the luxury of air-conditioning to escape to, so we feel very fortunate.
How is your summer going? I hope all is well with you! 🙂
Hi Barbara, Over here its a rainy season. Lot of rains this year. I’m as usual busy with my routine work. Well, nice to hear from you! Take good care! 🙂
Your comment made me think of a movie I enjoyed, “Monsoon Wedding”…
Barbara, I just finished watching the movie, ‘Monsoon Wedding’. I had not seen it before. So now you know how the big fat Indian weddings actually are, you must once attend!! 🙂
If I get invited to one, I just might! 🙂
So lovely. 🙂
Thank you, Robin! 🙂
Hi,
Very nice indeed, and the painting, it has so much in it the more you study it the more you find, the chicken with the babies, the little handbag, and of course the butterfly’s it really is a lovely painting.
I love the mother hen and her little chicks, too… So much going on here on this little “square yard of the surface of the earth.”
Good pairing of picture and quotation – I try to keep Walt’s thought high up in my mind every day.
Thanks, Paul… All of life on this living, breathing planet is indeed a miracle – keeping Walt’s thought in mind does help us to stay appreciative…
Thank you for reminding me that miracles still exist. That every day is another chance that it can happen anytime. That when we truly believe and have faith in its existence, it can happen to all of us. Beautiful poem and painting as always.
You’re welcome! There are miracles to encounter everywhere when we keep our eyes, ears and hearts open. As a father, I’m sure you recognize miracles every day…
